Ok, so Hue will make a push to sign him and ignore drafting any of the top QBs this year and use those picks elsewhere and then they draft a QB with #2 next year.
Browns are in a tricky spot. They need to come away with a franchise QB this offseason. I wonder if they try to sign McCarron and draft a QB in the top 4 in a similar way to what the Bears did last offseason with Glennon and Trubisky.

If I'm them, I'd attack the problem in this wise:

Step 1. I'm chasing me some Teddy Crossdresser, formerly a highly regarded QB prospect himself, and handing him the reigns as soon as he signs.

Bring him in on what will probably be the standard post-injury 1 year deal to rebuild his stock. Might strike gold and have a longterm option. Might get a 3rd round comp pick if he plays his way into a "We believe in you, Teddy!" contract in another city. Might even be able to swing a tag & trade if he plays well enough. In any of those scenarios, I'm keeping Kizer off the damn field. Win for me.

Step 2. Go after a veteran mentor type who'll know his role and focus on being more of a coach than player. He's not getting many, if any practice reps. He's here to help guide the youngsters as they learn how to practice, how to study film, how to endure that goofy bastard Huebris Jackson. Matt Moore, Fitzmagic, Derek Anderson, McCown, whoever.

Step 3. I'm not half-assing this problem. With the first pick in the 2018 Draft, I'm taking the best, surest bet at QB I see. Whether that's Rosen, Mayfield, or Darnold, go get your guy. Insert him as the backup immediately so he gets adequate practice reps, and leave his ass there unless/until Teddy breaks again, or simply gets outplayed by the rookie to such a degree that you have to make the switch. Ideally, though, I'm having him ride pine all year to protect him from Hue.

Step 4. Hell nah, I ain't done. When Day 3 rolls around, draft some competition for Kizer.

If Rudolph is there in Rd4, I'm taking him. I've got 500 draft picks. Fuck it. It's a QB. I need QBs. Could probably flip Kizer for a 5th rounder afterward.

If Falk is there, I'm considering him.

Otherwise, I'm dropping a later pick on a guy with more "grit" than talent to at least push Kizer for a roster spot.

Step 5. Let the #3 & 4 QBs (Yeah, I'm carrying 4) earn their spots. Attempt to trade, or just IR the loser(s), but get em the hell outta here either way.

- Short term starter in place with potential to either keep the gig or get me a draft pick when heaves. WIN.

- The best QB in the draft waiting in the wings. WIN.

- Veteran in the QB room. WIN.

- Day 3 guy added for longterm backup duty with the possibility of being our Kirk Cousins should we need him. WIN.

- Absolutely no need to depend on Kizer. WIN.

- Viable "Hue broke my QB!" Plan B option(s). WIN.

I'm so much better at this than the people who've done it for years, even decades.

I'm available, NFL. Call me.
